Namaste, friend

My yoga journey began in 2014 when I pushed myself to try a free class at my university’s recreation and wellness center. I quickly fell in love with the balance between strength and softness, sweat and serenity that the classes offered. As the semester went on, I attended more and more classes and found more and more passion for my practice in each posture. On and off my mat, I began to see the power of connection between breath and movement, mind and body.

In 2017, I completed my 200-hour training at CorePower Yoga in Portland, Oregon. As cliché as it is, yoga teacher training was one of the best things I ever did for myself. The community it introduced to me opened so many doors while the lessons it taught me showed me how to walk through those doors of opportunity with integrity, grace and LOVE.

Over the years, my yoga practice has consisted of mostly vinyasa, power vinyasa and yin. But my background of other activities throughout this life is quite broad. I tried just about every sport and exercise as a kid including soccer, gymnastics, cheerleading, swimming, spring-board diving, pilates, volleyball, basketball, cross-fit, olympic weightlifting, cross-country and track.

All of this has now combined to create a style of yoga-teaching that is uniquely me — mindful movement that is purposefully sequenced with a special focus on breath, energy and safe alignment. Plus some sick beats to move to. Can’t forget those. Very important.

As I continue to practice, learn and teach, I’m always asking how yoga can be paired with different activities and enhance quality of life for people of all backgrounds—for a runner, a freediver, an ex-marine, a desk-worker, a child, a senior citizen. The more I explore this, the more I know that yoga lives in every facet of life. The good parts, the bad, the serious, the playful. We just have to be open to seeing it. I find it helps to not take life or yoga class so seriously, and just let it flow (pun sort of intended).

Lately I’ve rediscovered my love for distance running and yoga has been a vital tool for me during my marathon training along with pilates and functional strength training. I truly believe movement is medicine and love sharing ALL of these practices with ALL ability levels. If you’re curious about integrating more movement into your life, reach out and let’s talk! I currently have availability for private instruction, small group classes, and large events.
